2025 Bankers Football League heats up: NIB Leads, UBA and FirstBank struggle…

The 2025 Bankers Football League (BFL) delivered an exhilarating Week 6, with dramatic results shaking up the standings as teams battled it out at McDan Park and St. Thomas Aquinas Park venues on Saturday in Accra.

The latest fixtures have intensified the race for the top spot, while strugglers at the bottom fought desperately to climb out of the relegation zone.

NIB emerged as the new league leaders, securing 16 points from seven matches with a commanding +14 goal difference after a 2-0 victory over Societe Generale at the St. Thomas Aquinas School Park.

The shift at the summit came as UMB, previously unbeaten, stumbled with a 1-1 draw against Access Bank at McDan, leaving them level on 16 points but with a +11 goal difference, slipping to second place. 

ABSA held firm in third with 14 points and a +5 goal difference following a 2-1 win over GCB who dropped to fourth with 13 points and a +3 goal difference after a 1-2 loss to ABSA.

The mid-table saw intense competition, with OmniBSIC maintaining fourth place on 12 points and a +6 goal difference despite a 1-3 defeat to NIB.
