How England’s Lionesses returned home to a hero’s welcome after 2025 Euro glory…

Following a European Championship win like no other, England’s Lionesses have returned home as back-to-back UEFA Women’s Euro champions.

The squad flew home from Switzerland on Monday and were welcomed at a reception hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock at Downing Street.

But the celebrations truly kicked off on Tuesday, July 29, just 48 hours after their dramatic victory over Spain in the Euro 2025 final. The Lionesses paraded through London on an open-top bus along The Mall, culminating in a ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace.

England successfully defended their European title with a penalty shootout win over Spain in Basel, Switzerland, on Sunday—becoming the first England team in history to win a major tournament on foreign soil. Chloe Kelly, echoing her heroics from Euro 2022, scored the decisive penalty after the match ended 1–1.

Sarina Wiegman danced on stage in front of Buckingham Palace with her favourite musical artist, Nigerian singer Burna Boy.

The win was a moment of redemption for manager Sarina Wiegman’s side, who had suffered heartbreak against Spain in the 2023 World Cup final.

King Charles III congratulated the team, offering the royal family’s “warmest appreciation and admiration,” and added: “The next task is to bring home the World Cup in 2027, if you possibly can.”

Prime Minister Keir Starmer also praised the team, saying: “The Lionesses have once again captured the hearts of the nation. Their victory is not only a remarkable sporting achievement but an inspiration for young people across the country.”
