NDC’s United Cadres Front urges Mahama to act decisively on corruption and illegal mining…

The United Cadres Front (UCF) has called on stakeholders across the country to remain vigilant and proactive in supporting the government’s Reset Agenda, while pressing for swift and decisive action against corruption and illegal mining.

Speaking at the 44th anniversary commemoration of the 31st December 1981 Revolution in Ada in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the National Chairman of the UCF, Shine Gaveh, commended the work of the ORAL initiative in recovering looted state assets but expressed concern about the slow pace of judicial processes.

He stressed the need for the establishment of specialised tribunals to fast-track the prosecution of corrupt officials, warning that prolonged delays could erode public confidence and affect the future electoral prospects of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Comrade Gaveh highlighted what he described as notable achievements chalked up by President John Dramani Mahama within 11 months in office, citing progress across several sectors.

He urged government officials, civil society organisations, traditional leaders, the clergy and the wider public to rally behind the Reset Agenda and prioritise public service over political self-interest.

The UCF National Chairman also raised concerns about the growing incidence of misinformation and disinformation in the media and on social media platforms.

He called on the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations to introduce measures to ensure the dissemination of credible information, and urged Parliament to pass legislation to address disinformation in order to safeguard the country’s knowledge-based development.

On illegal mining, Comrade Gaveh warned of the threat posed by organised groups to law enforcement agencies and called for firm action by the President, in his capacity as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, to protect forests, rivers and other natural resources.

He further underscored the role of cadres in building and defending the NDC, reminding party leadership that the volunteer network had been central to campaign activities, grassroots mobilisation and the protection of the gains of the revolution. He cautioned against sidelining cadres, stressing that internal cohesion was essential for the effectiveness of the party.

Comrade Gaveh also disclosed that the UCF had expanded its mobilisation efforts beyond Ghana through the establishment of a diaspora chapter aimed at raising resources and supporting both party and national development initiatives.

He explained that the commemoration was meant to honour the 31st December Revolution itself, and not any subsequent political movement. He also emphasised that the children of the late Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings remained integral members of the NDC, saying, “As long as we, the Cadres, are alive, these children belong to the party.”
