Bryan Acheampong dismisses MP endorsements, says grassroots delegates will crown 2028 NPP leader…

The campaign of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has boldly dismissed the significance of parliamentary endorsements, asserting that the party’s grassroots delegates are the true kingmakers in the upcoming internal contest.

This declaration came yesterday (September 25, 2025) during his ongoing constituency tour in the Eastern Region, specifically in Achiase, where he addressed a recent show of support by fifteen MPs for his main rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“There are 20,000 strong delegates in this region who will vote. Fifteen MPs pale in comparison. It is the base of the party that counts — and that base is with me,” he declared, a statement that was met with rapturous applause from his audience.

The location of this rebuttal was particularly symbolic, as Achiase constituency is the home base of Kofi Marfo, the spokesperson of the group of fifteen MPs who endorsed Dr. Bawumia.

The event showcased a significant show of grassroots solidarity for the former Minister, with delegates openly affirming their confidence in his candidacy and predicting his victory in the constituency.

For Dr. Acheampong, this support underpins his central campaign message: that the race is not about elite endorsements but about reconnecting with the party’s rank and file. He reiterated his vision for the party, focusing on “inclusiveness and renewal,” and promised to “empower the base of the party and ensure no delegate is left behind.”
