The President of the Afro Arab Group, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu, has reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating Ghana’s transition to clean energy, declaring that “going green is the new way” as the country prepares for a modern transport revolution.
He said the youth must be central to this agenda, given their capacity to drive innovation and rapidly adopt new technologies.
Speaking on the Group’s latest sustainability intervention, Alhaji Salamu Amadu outlined a strategic partnership between Afro Arab and its Chinese collaborators to introduce 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) into the Ghanaian market. The multi-phase initiative will operate through a structured work-and-pay model designed to provide income opportunities for young people while deepening the country’s adoption of environmentally friendly transport solutions.According to him, the green shift must be understood not only as an environmental imperative but also as a significant economic opportunity. “The youth can push this agenda faster than anyone,” he said. “That is why we are partnering with our Chinese partners to bring in 1,000 EV cars to create jobs and support government efforts in the green transition.”
Under the initiative, over 2,000 jobs are expected to be created across vehicle operation, maintenance, charging infrastructure, and ancillary services. The Afro Arab Group describes the project as part of its broader agenda to support government-led sustainability programmes, promote renewable energy systems and help position Ghana as a competitive player in emerging green industries.
The Group believes the global shift toward climate-conscious technologies presents Ghana with a unique opportunity to lead green mobility solutions in West Africa. It says introducing EVs at scale will help reduce carbon emissions, lower transport costs and stimulate local entrepreneurship.
Alhaji Salamu Amadu noted that environmental stewardship, youth empowerment and economic transformation must progress together if Ghana is to secure long-term prosperity. Through the EV project, he said Afro Arab intends to demonstrate that sustainable development can be both commercially viable and socially impactful.
The initiative forms part of a growing list of interventions by the Group aimed at promoting modern, responsible and inclusive economic participation among Ghana’s youth, particularly in sectors with long-term growth potential.
As global demand for climate-friendly solutions intensifies, the Afro Arab Group says it is ready to contribute significantly to Ghana’s clean energy journey, with Alhaji Salamu Amadu reiterating that, for the country’s young population, embracing the green economy is not just an option but a pathway to future opportunity.
