The University of Ghana Corporate Tennis Championship came alive on Saturday, October 25, 2025, with a spirited display of athleticism and camaraderie at the University of Ghana Tennis Court in Legon.
The annual tournament brought together some of Ghana’s leading corporate institutions for a day of competitive tennis, networking, and wellness promotion.
The event began with a lively curtain-raiser match featuring the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who partnered with the President of the Ghana Tennis Federation, Mr Joshua Duah, against Miss Maame Araba Amfo and Professor Richmond Nii Okai Aryeetey, the Collaborative Lead of UG Nkabom.
The friendly exhibition match ended 6–2 in favour of Team VC, with Professor Amfo and her partner displaying impressive coordination and energy to the delight of spectators. The match set a vibrant tone for the rest of the day’s games and underscored the University’s commitment to promoting fitness, teamwork, and community engagement.
Participating institutions included the Volta River Authority (VRA), Stanbic Bank PLC, GOIL PLC, and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), all of whom brought strong teams and infectious enthusiasm to the court.
The championship was organised by the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate in partnership with RITE Sports Services. It was supported by GOIL, Verna Water, Penfield School, and the Ghana Tennis Federation.
According to the organisers, the tournament was designed not only to foster competition among corporate bodies but also to promote networking, teamwork, and physical wellbeing among professionals.
The University of Ghana Corporate Tennis Championship continues to grow as one of the most anticipated events on the University’s sporting calendar, reflecting the institution’s vision of holistic excellence through sports and wellness.
